TI provides sample demo codes to easily get started with the IWR6843LEVM evaluation module (EVM) and to experience the functionality of the IWR6843 radar sensor.

Hardware

IWR6843L Evaluation Module (EVM)

The IWR6843L evaluation module (EVM) is an easy-to-use 60-GHz mmWave sensor evaluation platform for the IWR6843 with an FR4-based antenna. The IWR6843LEVM may be used to evaluate both the IWR6843 and IWR6443. This EVM enables access to point-cloud data and power-over-USB interfaces.

60-GHz to 64-GHz mmWave Sensor

The IWR6843LEVM supports direct connectivity to the MMWAVEICBOOST and DCA1000EVM development kits. It contains everything required to start developing software for on-chip C67x digital signal processor (Dsp) cores, hardware accelerators (HWAs), and low-power ARM® Cortex®-R4F controllers.

Supported Tools and Software

The IWR6832LEVM is supported by mmWave tools and software, namely mmWave studio (MMWAVE-STUDIO) and the mmWave software development kit (MMWAVE-SDK).

Additional Boards for Functionality

Additional boards may be used to enable additional functionality. Per esempio:

  • DCA1000EVM: Enables access to the sensor’s raw data via a low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) interface.
  • MMWAVEICBOOST: Enables software development and trace capabilities via Code Composer Studio™ (CCSTUDIO). When paired with MMWAVEICBOOST, the IWR6843LEVM can interface with the MCU LaunchPad™ development kit ecosystem.

IWR6x43 Device

The IWR6x43 device is an integrated single chip mmWave sensor based on FMCW radar technology capable of operation in the 60-GHz to 64-GHz band. It is built with TI’s low power 45-nm RFCMOS process and enables unprecedented levels of integration in an extremely small form factor. This device is an ideal solution for low power, self-monitored, ultra-accurate radar systems in the industrial space. Multiple variants are currently available, including Functional Safety-Compliant devices and non-functional safety devices.
