PCB Q3 2026: CCL Price Hikes Drive Volume and Price Growth

1. Market Backdrop: Why PCB Q3 Earnings Hit a Turning Point

In Q3 2026, the PCB sector showed stronger earnings certainty. CITIC Securities reports that 2H 2026 results may stay strong. The firm expects PCB makers to improve profitability from Q3 2026 onward.

Industry data support this view. The China Electronic Components Association (CECA) reports that China PCB export value rose 27.63% year on year in January-June 2026. Exports of four-layer-and-above boards reached USD 10.863 十億. That figure rose 47.74% year on year. These numbers confirm volume and price growth across the PCB supply chain.

PCB CCL price hike

The global picture is similar. Prismark’s Q4 2025 report predicts global PCB output of about USD 102 10億インチ 2026. That marks about 12.5% 成長. Mainland China may reach USD 55.2 十億, 上 12.9%. The region would hold more than 50% of global output. This shift toward China supports the current PCB price cycle.

2. CCL価格の値上げ: Supply-Side Hard Constraints

2.1 How Fast Are Prices Rising?

銅製のラミネート (CCL) sits at the center of this price cycle. FR-4 CCL prices rose from about 70 CNY per sheet in July 2025. By June 2026, they reached 260 CNY per sheet. That is an increase of more than 270% in one year. The 1.0 mm thickness grade moved from 90 CNY to 380-400 CNY per sheet.

Market research shows similar pressure. The average tax-inclusive price of standard FR-4 CCL rose from about 110 CNY to more than 240 CNY per sheet. This level exceeds the 2021 high of about 230 CNY.

This CCL price cycle has run for four to five quarters. China Merchants Securities completed more than 10 surveys across the PCB supply chain. The base case expects monthly CCL price hikes to continue until June 2027. The bull case sees hikes continuing until the end of 2027.

2.2 Why This Cycle Is Different

This cycle differs from past cycles. Supply drives prices, not demand. Three constraints explain this shift.

初め, glass fiber cloth supply faces a hard limit. Citi reports that weaving machines are the key bottleneck. Toyota Industries holds more than 80% of global high-end loom share. AI demand consumes large amounts of high-end glass cloth. 結果として, ordinary CCL supply suffers.

2番, copper foil upgrades raise processing costs. AI PCBs need high-frequency, 高速材料. They require HVLP copper foil with lower surface roughness. This upgrade pushes processing fees higher.

Third, equipment lead times limit new capacity. Key CCL equipment lead times stretched from about eight months to as long as two years. Order visibility now reaches Q1 2028.

CCL cost structure reveals the pressure. Copper foil accounts for 42%. Resin accounts for 26%. Glass fiber cloth accounts for 19%. Glass cloth has the smallest share. Yet it has the weakest supply elasticity.

Industry standards guide CCL qualification and testing. These include IPC-4101, IPC-TM-650, およびUL 94.

3. PCB Price Pass-Through: Small and Mid-Size Makers Change Pricing

3.1 From Following to Forward Locking

過去に, PCB makers followed material prices. They adjusted prices after upstream moves. That model changed in 2026. Small and mid-size makers began monthly price hikes in May. They have completed four to five rounds.

Their pricing model now locks in expected hikes for the next two to three months. They set prices using the spot CCL price at shipment. This shift gives PCB makers more control.

3.2 The Logic Behind Profit Recovery

Supply and demand have reset. End customers now prioritize supply assurance. Access to CCL equals supply capability. PCB cost share remains lower than memory and chips. Customers accept price hikes when supply is tight.

CITIC Securities reports that capable makers raised prices by more than 20% from June to August. In Q3, most small and mid-size PCB makers restored net margins to historical highs above 10%. Order schedules suggest further upside in Q4.

PCB cost structure explains why pass-through matters. Raw materials account for about 60% of PCB cost. CCL accounts for about 27%. Prepreg accounts for about 14%. Copper balls, 銅箔, and gold salts together account for about 7%. When CCL prices nearly triple, pass-through becomes the key to profit recovery.

Standards such as IPC-6012, IPC-A-600, およびUL 796 define rigid PCB qualification and acceptance. They help buyers compare PCB supplier quality.

4. AI PCB: The Second Main Line

4.1 Faster Technology Iteration

AI PCB technology keeps raising the bar. PCB makers increased investment in HDI, high-layer, and mSAP capacity in 2H 2025 and 1H 2026. mSAP mainly serves 1.6T optical modules and high-end AI servers. Order books for mSAP remain full. Capacity utilization stays healthy.

4.2 Capacity Bottlenecks: Equipment and Talent

AI PCB capacity faces two bottlenecks.

On equipment, laser drilling machine lead times stretched from six months to nine or ten months. LDI and plating equipment lead times approach one year. High-resolution exposure machines and horizontal plating lines often exceed one year. Only makers that lock equipment early can open high-end capacity.

On yield, high-layer and large-size PCBs make stack-up, ラミネーション, and warp control harder. Yield ramp cycles last one to two years. New capacity cannot ramp quickly. Stable technical teams matter. Talent supply is also a bottleneck.

CITIC Securities estimates that NVIDIA Rubin Ultra PCB ASP may rise more than 50% over Rubin. M9 and ultra-high-layer designs will gain penetration. High-end capacity will stay scarce.

Standards such as IPC-2221, IPC-6012クラス 3, およびUL 796 support high-reliability AI PCB design and qualification.

5. Outlook and Buyer Guidance

The PCB supply chain now shows a clear profit path. Ordinary CCL and PCB profits form the base. Faster AI progress tightens older-generation supply. Q1 marked the glass cloth earnings turn. Q2 marked CCL. Q3 now marks PCB, especially ordinary boards.

Prismark predicts a 7.7% CAGR for global PCB output from 2025 に 2030. Server and data storage boards may grow fastest at 10.9%. Structural demand from AI computing may extend this cycle into 2027 そしてその先へ.

For buyers, prices sit in an upward channel. A reliable PCB supplier with upstream material access can offer stable supply. Buyers should request a PCB quote early. They should also seek a PCBA supplier with CCL long-term agreements. This approach locks cost and protects lead times.
